‘Fashion’ explores the world of style. The style through the emotional personal journeys of the key people that make the industry - the dream-weavers of that elaborate world of Glamor: the Models, Designers, Photographers, Businessmen, Agencies etc.

Now the 3 times ‘National Award; winner director Madhur Bhandarkar is back. He is back with a vengeance with the film ‘Fashion’. The film depicts the dark and positive side of fashion industry.

This is Madhur’s most expensive film till date which stars Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, Mughda Godse, Arjan Bajwa, and Harsh Chhaya primarily.

Apart from them a horde of other B-towners will be seen in cameos namely - Konkona Sen Sharma, Ranvir Shorey, Arbaaz Khan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Karan Johar, Prahlad Kakkar, Daboo Ratnani.

Along with designers Wendell Rodricks & Manish Malhotra and last but not the least of all Madhur himself will be seen in a small cameo.

This time Bhandarkar changes his loyalties from his favorite Shamir Tandon (Music Director of ‘Traffic Signal’, ‘Corporate’, ‘Page 3’) and tries out with aspiring Salim - Sulaiman for the needful in the musical section.

The film shows stories behind the…Light, Glamour, Modeling, Fashions, Designers, Business, Endorsements and Ramp - shows.

It is about rise and fall of a famous supermodel, who basically comes from a small town to win fashion shows in metro cities and after once getting to the top, she is thrown back into anonymity to start a fresh fight for the second time.

The filmmaker submitting an affidavit denying the allegation the ‘Fashion’, due for release on Wednesday, was based on the life of model Gitanjali Nagpal.

In fact, the name of the character played by Kangana Ranaut is Sonali Gujral, who, in the film, is a reigning supermodel from Mumbai. Whereas, Gitanjali was never a supermodel”

Bhandarkar had been summoned by the State Women’s commission following speculation that his latest film that probes the dark side of the fashion industry.

It had drawn inspiration from the life of Gitanjali Nagpal, a model who was found on Delhi’s streets in a distress condition a year ago.

Preity Zinta best actress at Chicago film Festival

Preity Zinta, whose performance in Deepa Mehta's Heaven on Earth, received warm reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, has won the Silver Hugo Award for best actress at the 44th edition of Chicago International Film Festival.

The jury praised her 'for her strong yet subtle performance as a woman struggling to keep her dreams despite brutal realities.'

The film, which will inaugurate the Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival in New York on November 5, is the first film in which Mehta has explored the struggle of an immigrant bride in Canada and the choice she has to make to empower herself away from the abusive relationship in her new home. Married to an Indian resident in Canada, she has to use her imagination, wit and soul strength to keep her sanity and self-esteem.

To indicate her long-awaited arrival, small footprints are drawn with rice flour and vermilion powder all over the houses. Lamps are kept burning all through the nights. Believing this day to be auspicious women purchase some gold or silver or at least one or two new utensils. "Lakshmi-Puja" is performed in the evenings when tiny diyas of clay are lighted to drive away the shadows of evil spirits.

Shilpa Shetty shuts them up with a Sizzling Dance

After Desi Girl, it's now time for Shilpa Shetty to Shut Up and Bounce. That's the song in Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana that will air soon. Producer Karan Johar says, "Shilpa has done a sizzling job but the credit also goes to Tarun and Vaibhavi Merchant (choreographer). Composed by Vishal-Shekhar, the track is an introductory song picturised on the film's stars John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in Miami.

Tarun and Vaibhavi wanted a hot actress to be with them. We all brainstormed and felt that Shilpa undoubtedly has the best body in the business." Tarun adds, "Vishal-Shekhar and I were bouncing all kinds of tunes when they both got fed up with me and said, 'Shut up and give me a song that won't bounce' and that became the catchword."

About choosing Shilpa, Tarun says, "She is the quintessential bikini babe. She was comfortable about wearing everything and is very dedicated. We were to shoot the song in seven days but completed it in four and a half." A source close to Shilpa says, "The actress had stopped doing item numbers as people had stopped taking her seriously. She was concentrating more on performance-oriented roles. When Karan asked her to do the song, Shilpa wanted to hear it out.

The moment she heard it, she loved it and agreed instantly. Shilpa also loved the perfect amalgamation of her favourite people working with her which included apart from Karan and Vaibhavi, Manish Malhotra (designer), Mickey Contractor (make-up) and Latika (hairstylist). Adds the source, "When she landed in Miami, her baggage went missing. But she went shopping with Manish and bought stuff from designers Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana to wear. "

Riya Sen walks the ramp for Ranna Gill at WLIFW

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week got its first touch of Bollywood as Riya Sen walked the ramp for Ranna Gill. Riya sashayed down the ramp wearing a heavily embelished s-kirt and heavy necklace. Ranna Gill's collection called 'Nirvana' complete with brights, vivid colours. The dresses were very wearable and had a variety.

There were dresses for daily wear and for special evenings. Nirvana will appeal to the hip and young across the globe. It is a versatile and smart collection that will garner popular appeal," Gill told IANS. "This collection is all about colours and femininity with interesting bead work and my signature style-print," she added. Elegance was contrasted with muted colour palette of teal blue, mustard, off whites, cherry, grape and rose pink.

The eveningwears with not so over the top shimmer and geometric motifs are eclectic piece of art. However, the focus around the neck and back exhibits the finer nuances of designing.As for the material, Gill mostly used jersey fabric, linen and emphasized crystals. Gill's outfits start at Rs. 4,500 and go higher as the detailing and work increases.

The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week got more than its share of star power. Deepika Padukone the face of Fiama Di Wills walked the ramp for Designer duo - Shantanu and Nikhil. In her usual grace, Deepika looked sleek and casual in a white tunic. The crowd cheered as the show was kicked off by Deepika walking the ramp.

Giving the feel of a rough winters and moving into warm colours, the collection was a good mix of new textures and rare combinations of blue, white and black. Earlier in the day Deepika was at the Fiama Di Wills lounge at the WIFW to crown the winner of Fiama Di Wills Beautiful Face 2008 Hunt.

'I believe in being comfortable in what I wear instead of wearing something in fashion that does not suit my body. I don't follow fashion trends,' Deepika told IANS. She added, "During my days of modeling, I never got any such opportunity or platform to showcase my talent. But god has been kind to me."

Shilpa Shetty lets out the secret of her intelligence

The Shetty sisters, Shilpa and Shamita, attended the launch of the book Awakening into Oneness by Oneness University. Shilpa was all praises for the book and how it changed her life.

“I have become intelligent after attending the Oneness movement,” she said. From yoga to spirituality, Shilpa couldn't stop raving about how the experiences have changed her life.

“The oneness movement has made a huge difference to my life. I got introduced to it by accident, but in the last seven to eight months that I have been introduced to it my life, I can say this with complete confidence that I have seen a drastic change in the way I perceive people; in the way I perceive my life, my success, my pain. It’s so important for each one of us on a human level top awake our consciousness,” she said.

Shilpa's next Bollywood venture is The Man where she just had to play herself, a popular actress. “The best thing about the film is that Sunny said just don't act. So just be yourself, which is quite amazing. So it’s shaping up really well,” she said.
